THE PRODUCTS ARE MANUFACTURED IN KÄPYLÄ, HELSINKI.
The lamps are printed in my studio. In addition, I assemble the electrical components myself with my own little hands.
Design process
Lamps that bring joy.
I have designed the lamps to bring a smile to your face, even when they are not on.
The lamps are united by round, soft shapes and bright colors.
I am drawn to opulence and showiness. A table lamp can be the element around which a room is decorated.
All the lamps are modeled by me. In addition, during the design phase of the lamps, I have printed several prototypes to ensure that all the elements work as well as possible and are in balance with each other.
The video shows me printing the Rocket lamp in my office. It takes 5 hours and 30 minutes to print the body of this lamp.
LAMPS are 3D printed.
The lamps are designed by me and are manufactured using 3D printing in my studio in Käpylä. Each product is made to order.
Printing is slow: depending on the model, it takes 7-16 hours to print one lamp. The print is built up 0.2mm layer at a time.
It is characteristic of 3D printed works that they may show layer lines and seams. As a result, the works may have visible surface defects. However, efforts have been made to hide surface defects behind or underneath the works. This page contains sample images of the textures present in the works. Each work is therefore slightly unique and flawed – like all of us.
Characteristics of 3D printing:
Material
The lamps are made from PLA, or polylactide. It is a biodegradable polyester based on corn starch. The material is non-toxic, but it is not resistant to heavy wear and tear or long-term UV light.
Layer lines
Layer lines may appear here and there in the work. One layer is 0.2mm thick, so the lines are very subtle. In other colors the lines are more visible.
Seam
For printing reasons, there will be a vertical seam in the work. I have tried to hide the vertical seam on the back of the work.
Surface and bottom edges
Layer lines are often more visible on the upper surfaces of the work, but I have tried to minimize their visibility.
The parts facing downwards are sometimes a bit untidy due to printing technology. However, these parts are never noticeable in normal use.
The wires are fabric-covered.
The cables are produced in Estonia, where I order them and install the parts myself.
Other parts are also produced in the EU
I order the parts as close as possible to minimize freight.
Each lamp is tested before shipment.
This is how I strive to ensure the best possible quality from start to finish. When you order a product, you will receive a label with the product that shows the steps taken.
LAMPS are CE marked.
